St. Stephen’s was founded in 1822 as a racially integrated congregation that strives to be a “house of prayer for all people” by living into the commandment to love your neighbor as yourself. Mindful of our roots, we carry forward this mission of inclusivity and radical welcome in 21st century Charleston and beyond. Emblematic of our values is the crooked cross atop our church, blown aslant but not down by Hurricane Hugo and now our symbol that amid the gales of the world we stand strong with love for all.
We hope to see you for in-person worship on Sundays!
7:45am Holy Eucharist
9am Family-Friendly Holy Eucharist

YOUR CHURCH
Keeping Forever God’s
Purposes in our Hearts
We invite you to learn more about our ongoing Capital Campaign.
We have the opportunity to listen and respond to God’s call toward a future for St. Stephen’s that continues our rich legacy of openness and radical inclusion. As stewards of this house of prayer for all people, we seek to remove barriers that prevent us from fully sharing God’s love on our campus, and to dedicate this sacred space even more intentionally to our ministry in downtown Charleston.
In all things we give thanks to the generosity each person extends to our faith community.
